At a top music academy in Japan, Shinichi Chiaki's arrogance is matched only by his top-notch piano playing. But when Chiaki and the teacher get into a fight, he's demoted to the reject class. Chiaki is left to pursue his dream of being a conductor while surrounded by a bunch of loser musicians and one annoying girl, Noda, who has proclaimed herself Chiaki's girlfriend. It doesn't help that Noda, who insists on being called Nodame, lives right next door to him.

The official Japanese website of the Nodame Cantabile anime series has announced the October premiere of the Nodame Cantabile Pari-Hen (Nodame Cantabile: Paris Chapter) sequel. The new story arc will run in Nodame Cantabile's former late-night Noitamina timeslot in Japan. Both Tomoko Ninomiya's original manga (pictured at right) and the 2006-2008 live-action drama adaptation have already set their later stories in Paris. All versions of Nodame Cantabile have the common plot threads of two music students who drive themselves and each other to greater artistic heights in Japan and later Europe.

It's Nodame's third and final year at the Conservatoire de Paris. Her dedication to become a professional piano player and Chiaki's consolidation in Europe are making their skills flourish, but they also seem to be forging unfavorable consequences into their relationship. Forbidden by her teacher to participate in contests, Nodame feels that the gap between herself and Chiaki is expanding to a dangerous length. The love & music story continues between Noda Megumi, the talented yet distracted (almost childish) piano player, and Chiaki Shinichi, the prodigious, always focused on advancing forward, orchesta director. How love will finally find its way for this two persons. Will it be able to surpass the challenges ahead or will it die prematurely. Paris, the city of light, is the more accurate place to find out how this "love musical" will reach its FINALE.

二之宫知子创作的漫画作品「交响情人梦」已于10月完满落幕，这部以古典音乐为题材的漫画，因丰富动人的剧情而大受好评，并在全日本掀起了一股古典音乐热潮。在连载的7年间曾被改编成一部电视剧、两部TV动画，随着漫画的完结，相关制作方也决定推出第3季动画以及两部电影版作为终结。两部电影版将于2009年12月及2010年3月上映，第3季TV版「交响情人梦Finale」将从2010年1月起继续在富士电视台的“noitaminA”栏目播放，此前播出的第1季和第2季都刷新了该栏目的收视率纪录，而最终季动画又将为该栏目带来怎样的新景气呢，就让我们拭目以待吧！
